While tucking Frankie in to bed tonight I told her, "I love you and I think you're wonderful.""I know. And you got me" she said with eyelids dropping.
Mission accomplished.
She turns ten years old at 11:50pm tonight. Of all the things I want my kids to know, the most important is that I love them and think they're wonderful.
It began 7 or 8 years ago. In those words, every night at bedtime I summarize life as I see. It started with Savielena and has grown with each child. They now try to beat me to it. I work it into the story of whatever bedtime book we're reading to catch them off guard. They add it to songs they're singing as they get their jammies on.
Sometimes I ask, "Do you know what?" and they jump in with, "Yes! You love me and think I'm wonderful."
I'm grateful that Frankie knows.
